BIO

Originally from Ontario, Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences in Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College in 2013 and in her fourth year of school received the Dr. Bob Jackson Award for her research paper on Plantar Fasciitis. Shortly afterwards, she attained her Diploma in Massage Therapy from the Ontario College of Health and Technology. Lauren moved to the Okanagan and made Penticton her home in 2014, working with the Okanagan Hockey Academy, providing both on-ice and clinic care. In 2016, she volunteered with the Penticton Challenge and the 2016 Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships in Kamloops, BC.

Lauren has a passion for a healthy active lifestyle, and understands the demands of sports and every day activities on the body. It is her goal with every patient to find the cause of their problems and get them back to their optimal performance through manual therapy, muscle re-education and exercise. She is trained in soft-tissue release, trigger-point release, myofascial release, mobilizations, body imbalance correction, muscle re-education, PNF stretching, muscle energy, exercise prescription and modalities along with other musculoskeletal techniques. She has recently undergone additional training in TMJ/jaw injuries and management, and foam rolling.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys being outdoors hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding and playing sports such as hockey, baseball, and volleyball.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Dear friends,

As you will be aware, we are in the middle of a public health emergency due to the ongoing coronavirus/ COVID-19 pandemic. Following strong recommendations from both the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association in the last 24 hours, we have made the difficult decision to close our clinic until March 31st 2020. We believe that this is the ethically and socially responsible action to help ‘flatten the curve’ of the virus. We are trying to do our part to help take the pressure off the already overloaded Penticton Regional Hospital by preventing further spread.

Please note, we have NOT had any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our clinic. You can still book appointments with us for March 31st & onward, either on the phone at 250-493-1152 or on our online booking portal, located at the top of each of our webpages.

We understand that this may be an inconvenience, but we hope you can understand our decision in this unprecedented time. We will be working behind the scenes while our clinic is closed to make sure that all of your ICBC, WorkSafe BC and private claims are all being processed, and liaising with ICBC and WorkSafe as needed to extend treatment blocks which may end during our down time.

We are currently in the process of calling our patients to reschedule appointments, so don’t worry if you haven’t heard from us yet – we haven’t forgotten about you!

Again, we thank you for your understanding in this challenging time. We will keep you updated on the status of our clinic as the days and weeks unfold, and urge everyone to practice social distancing and keep updated on the current health advice from the Canadian government and health departments.

Looking forwards to seeing you all again on March 31st.

Best regards,

Chris Stokes,
Clinic Director and Registered Physiotherapist – March 17th, 2020
